Top Gun: Maverick is an upcoming action film starring action icon Tom Cruise in the lead role. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and is the direct sequel to the 1986's Top Gun. The movie will be distributed by Paramount Pictures Worldwide.
This film events takes place 34 years after the incidents of the original film. Legendary Captain Peter Maverick Mitchell becomes the new instructor of Top Gun. He guides Bradley, Goose's son, who seeks to become an aviator like his father.

Tom Cruise stars in the sequel to the 1986 action drama Top Gun, Top Gun 2. In this film, Maverick (played by Cruise) is called back into action to fight a different type of enemy: drones. The film is being written by Peter Graig, Justin Marks, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
Top Gun: Maverick was meant to be out by now, ending the long wait for fans of more than 30 years since the original.
However, the current global situation led to yet another delay for the sequel and now Tom Cruise's Maverick will finally be requesting a second flyby next summer – as long as there's not another delay, of course.
Cruise will be hoping nobody has lost their need for speed in the extended wait as Maverick returns to pass his wisdom onto a new batch of Top Gun recruits, before they head on a specialised mission that has never been seen before.
